40 Years of Science & Technology in Singapore at the Science Time Capsule Exhibition

Time Captured: 40 Years of Science & Technology in Singapore at the Science Time Capsule Exhibition

Witness Singapore’s development and scientific progress at The Science Time Capsule exhibition, opening on November 27, 2012 at the Science Centre Singapore.

The exhibition kick-starts the 35th Anniversary Celebrations for the Centre as it “Celebrates the Past and Shapes the Future”.

The Science Time Capsule, inaugurated in 1973, houses over 700 items contributed by 150 companies. These items will be exhibited at the Science Centre Singapore, Hall A from 27 November 2012 to 31 January 2013

The Centre hopes to inspire generations, past & present, through showcasing exciting and evolutionary progress of science & technology (S&T) over the past four decades.

Tracing the evolution of S&T and demonstrating its impact on our society and people include items our younger generation might not have even seen before! These include a 1983 cassette tape recorder, an Apple A2 system typewriter, and a series of cameras over the decades starting from a 1973 Rollei Camera.

Also, check out how our familiar Lux soaps used to look like in 1973 and compare the prices of food items like ice cream over the 70s and 80s! There are also interesting old photographs and print advertisements depicting how various landmarks in Singapore have evolved over the years.
