The Let’s Bin It Campaign is a rap-lyric writing competition organised by North East Community Development Council (NECDC) and National Environment Agency (NEA) for talented and passionate individuals to express their appreciation and support for our beautiful environment. Moreover, it serves to spread the environmental message and encourages everyone to take action to care for our environment.

So start going green now. Write and rap your way to a litter-free Singapore! And if that isn’t cool enough, you also stand to win up to $300 in prizes.

The top 3 winning entries will be selected and winners will get to showcase their rapping skills at the North East Clean and Green Singapore event.

Contest Rules

  1. Open Category – open to all persons aged 8 years and above, as at 31 December 2012.
  2. Submissions to be composed in English and related to litter-free theme.
  3. Total number of words in a single submission must not exceed 70 words.
  4. The entry should be an original composition which is unpublished and not performed.
  5. Before you submit your entry, please ensure you have read, understood, and agreed to abide by all the Terms and Conditions.

Competition Period

  1. Contest submission begins on 28 August 2012 at 1200 hours SGT and ends on 14 September 2012 at 2359 hours SGT. NECDC reserves the right to extend the deadline of the Contest if required.
  2. All residents of Singapore are eligible to participate in the contest, except for employees of the North East Community Development Council and National Environment Agency, their immediate family members and any other parties involved in organising or associating directly in this contest.
  3. For the purpose of this contest, an individual is considered a Singapore resident if he/she is:
    1. A Singapore citizen or permanent resident who resides permanently in Singapore.
    2. A foreigner who has stayed/worked in Singapore for at least six months.
    3. All participants are required to submit with their personal particulars. Any entry with incomplete or invalid details will be disqualified immediately.
    4. Participants are allowed to submit more than one entry using the same NRIC/FIN.
    5. In the event that NECDC receives two similar entries by two different participants, only the participant who submitted the entry first will be eligible for the contest.
    6. Submitted entries with content deemed as irrelevant or offensive by NECDC will be removed at NECDC’s discretion.

Selection Process

  1. Participants submit entries online via fb@northeast.org.sg between 28 August 2012 to 14 September 2012.
  2. Entries received after 14 September 2012 at 2359 hours SGT will not be considered.
  3. 3 winning entries will be shortlisted by NECDC and NEA. The winners will be notified via email and phone.

Prizes

  1. The participant who submits the best entry (1st Prize) will win S$300 vouchers and a performing opportunity at North East Clean and Green Singapore (venue to be confirmed). Other prizes include:
    1. 2nd Prize: S$200 vouchers
    2. 3rd prize: S$100 vouchers
    3. NECDC reserves the right to substitute or replace the prize with any other prize of similar value without prior notice.
    4. Prizes are non-transferable, non-negotiable and non-exchangeable.

Terms & Conditions

  1. NECDC and NEA shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising in connection with the Contest, including any unreadable, incomplete, mutilated, tampered or irregular entry, any breakdown or malfunction in any computer system or equipment and any notice which is misdirected or lost in the post.
  2. The participant of the shortlisted entry shall not reproduce the shortlisted entry in any other format or use the same title for another composition.
  3. The participant undertake to warrant that the entry contains nothing which is unlawful or infringes the copyright or other rights or any third party and the exploitation of the shortlisted entry will not infringe the international property rights of any third party.
  4. The participant shall keep NECDC, NEA and persons or entities authorised by it fully indemnified against all losses, actions, liabilities, claims, proceedings, cost and damages arising out of any breach of the above warranty.
  5. Participants who submit their compositions for the contest will retain the original copyright of their compositions subject to Clause 6 below.
  6. NECDC, NEA and persons or entities authorised by it reserve the right to record and publish all or part of the proceedings of the Contest and related activities for broadcast and promotional purposes without the participant’s consent or any payment thereof. NECDC, NEA and the original composers retain the rights to any material recorded as part of this process.
  7. Each finalist or winner consents to the public disclosure of his/her name, identification /passport number and photographs, as the case may be, for publicity purposes or otherwise participate in the publicity activities of NECDC & NEA in relation to the Contest and to the use of any data provided by such winner for any future publicity effort by NECDC & NEA, without any payment or compensation thereof.
  8. If for any reason any aspect of the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including by reason of infection by computer virus, network failure, bugs, tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, technical failures or any cause beyond the control of NECDC & NEA which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest, NECDC & NEA may in its sole discretion cancel, terminate, modify or suspend this Contest, or invalidate any affected submissions.
  9. Notwithstanding anything in these Terms and Conditions, NECDC & NEA reserves the right at any time in its absolute discretion to determine and/or amend, by addition to, subtraction from or variation of, these Terms and Conditions without prior notification, including but not limited to the eligibility terms and criteria, the selection of winners, the timing of any act to be done and all participants to this contest shall be bound by these amendments. All changes will be posted on this webpage.
  10. A person who is not a party to this Terms and Conditions shall have no right under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act to enforce any of these Terms and Conditions.
  11. In the event of any inconsistency between these Terms and Conditions and any brochures, marketing or promotional materials relating to the Contest, these Terms and Conditions, and all its subsequent variations, shall prevail.
  12. These Terms and Conditions and all its subsequent variations shall be subject to, governed by and interpreted in accordance with the domestic Laws of the Republic of Singapore for every purpose.
