Date: 25 Aug 2012
Time: 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Venue: Fort Canning Park
Meeting point: Along courtyard opposite NParks Visitor Centre, Fort Canning Centre

This free program highlights the changing faces of Fort Canning through the centuries.

Once the seat of Malay royalty in the 14th century, Fort Canning also played home to colonial governors in the 19th century. With its commanding view and strategic location, the hill was transformed into a military fort in the 1860s and subsequently served as a military base during the Second World War.

Today, the park has since abandoned its military past, and exists as a peaceful public space welcoming visitors seeking a respite from the city.

A display of ancient relics from the hill’s royal past together with the preserved remains of the old fort serve as reminders of the hill’s colorful past.
